At Dyrand, we believe technology is most effective when it’s human-centric and driven with purpose. As a boutique Managed IT Services firm in Vancouver, it's important for us to not only deliver curated and progressive technology but also drive the human-aspect of 'all things tech'.

Focus on the person behind the desktop, not just the technology.

One of our biggest differentiators is our Team; the 'Technical Curators' and 'Stewards' that support and deliver technology solutions to our Clients. Showcasing (and celebrating) our Team is the driving force behind this series. Our 'Studio Spotlight' series will provide an ongoing 'Behind the Scenes' peek which will highlight the people who bring our support, curated technology, and strategies to life.

In our inaugural Spotlight, we met with Rhiannon Brunker, our Director of Operations, to learn more about her experience and gain insight into her mindset as she elevates and drives Operations at Dyrand.

I. The Person
Q: Describe your professional journey and background.

A: I've been in the MSP industry for over 10 years; I began my MSP career back in Australia in 2014 and moved to Canada in 2016. Over time I've grown and worked my way through various technical support tiers before moving into the Management side of the business.

Q: When you’re not in the "Studio" (aka head office), where are we most likely to find you exploring?

A: In the Mountains! I love hiking, camping, fishing, snowboarding, or enjoying live music in the city with friends. You'll also find me spending valuable time with my best friend, my dog Sitka.

Q: What is one personal habit or hobby that surprisingly makes you better at your job?

A: I’m an intentional thinker. Before I act or speak, I take a moment to understand the situation and consider the best path forward and the possible impacts. That pause helps me stay calm, objective, and solutions‑focused, even in high pressure moments. It also means that when it’s time to make a decision, I can move quickly and confidently, and communicate the plan effectively because it’s built on clear thinking, not guesswork. I try to lead the same way - listen first, give things proper consideration, and then act with purpose.

Q: If you were hosting a dinner for the Team, what’s the one dish you’d be famous for making?

A: Why is this the hardest question to answer?! I’ll stick to IT’ing and let the Chefs stick to Cheffing!

II. The Craft

Q: In your role, what is one "technical detail or duty" that you treat like an art form?

A: One thing I treat like an art form is how I coach and support my Team. Everyone learns differently and thrives under different types of guidance, so I try to really listen first, understand what each person needs, and tailor my approach to support them in a way that works for them. Whether it’s mentoring, motivating, or helping someone build confidence in a new skill, I take an individualized approach, because effective leadership isn’t ‘one‑size‑fits‑all’.

Q: What does our "boutique" approach to service mean to you when solving complex problems for our Clients?

A: To me, our boutique approach means staying adaptable and creative, tailoring solutions to each Client’s goals and environment, ensuring their technology accelerates them rather than slows them down, and making sure the work we deliver genuinely moves their business forward. The thing I enjoy the most about the boutique approach is being able to prioritize building meaningful and productive relationships with everyone we interact with.

Q: If you had to describe the "signature style" of how you work and collaborate with the Team, what would it be?

A:  My signature style is calm, clear, and collaborative. I communicate openly, set expectations early, and make sure people feel informed rather than surprised. I like to make sure the team knows what’s happening, why it matters, and how we’ll tackle it together.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of working at Dyrand?

A: The people! We have an incredible Team of smart, creative, empathetic, and driven individuals who consistently show up as true Team players. Getting to work alongside and lead such a talented group is absolutely my favourite part of being at Dyrand!

III. The Vision

Q: What is a piece of technology that you can’t live without?

A: Automation. It’s a game‑changer. By removing repetitive manual tasks, my Team and I can focus our time on what we do best, bringing our critical thinking, problem‑solving, and human connection to every client experience.

Q: What is an industry shift you are most excited to "craft" or tackle for this year?

A: Would I work in IT if I didn’t say AI?! AI is definitely the answer but, implemented securely and intentionally. There’s so much potential for AI to streamline operations and empower teams, but only when it’s adopted thoughtfully. I’m excited to help shape how we use AI in a way that enhances efficiency without compromising security, data integrity, human judgment, or relationships. Guiding our Team through that balance will be a major shift that I’m looking forward to tackling.

IV. The Studio Signature

Dyrand's Studio Spotlight series is more than just a 'Meet the Team' post; it is a tribute to the 'Technical Curators' who define our boutique approach. We believe that exceptional IT isn’t a commodity, it’s a curated experience built on historic trust and personable support.

While the technology behind the scenes is constantly evolving, our commitment to human-centric, hand-tailored strategy remains the anchor of everything we do.
